Planting Instruction
  • How to Sow: Choose a sheltered, well drained site in full sun. Sow these seeds in trays for subsequent transplanting or, after frosts, sow directly in a well prepared seedbed. Sow seeds 2 cm apart, in rows 45 cm apart and to a depth 2 cm.
  • Seedling Care: Keep seedbed or trays evenly moist during the germination period of 7-14 days. Apply fruit fertiliser two weeks after germination for healthier plants and maximum crop. Protect your seedlings from slugs, snails and insect pests; go to mcgregors.co.nz for appropriate plant health and pest control products.
  • Hits & Tips: Best to thin your beets by selectively harvesting crowded plants. Leaves can be plucked and used in salads. For winter crop always sow early enough in late summer-autumn to allow good plant establishment before the cold sets in.
  • Our seeds are not treated with Neonicitinoids.
  • These seeds are not pasteurised.
