Water spinach (also known as kangkong/ong choy) is a fast-growing tropical green, easily grown in moist soil or water gardens. Its tender shoots and leaves are a staple in stir-fries and soups.

Planting Instruction
  • How To Sow: Choose a well drained site in full sun or part shade. In trays sprinkle seeds on soil surface. When large enough, thin or transplant them to 30 - 45cm apart. When planted directly in seedbed cover to depth of 1cm.
  • Seedling Care: Keep seedbed or trays evenly moist during the germination period of 7-14 days. Apply fertiliser two weeks after germination for healthier plants and maximum crop. Protect your seedlings from slugs, snails and insect pests; go to mcgregors.co.nz for appropriate plant health and pest control products.
  • Hints & Tips: Requires warm, consistently moist soil. The seed contained in this packet is packed in dry air and sealed in foil to protect it from moisture and sunlight (heat). If you need to store seed do so in a cool, dark location.
  • These seeds are not pasteurised.
